Updated Live Maps and Interactive Weather Maps

OK. I know all of the Open Source folks are going to hammer me about Google Maps … fine do it. :-) I like Open Source stuff as much as the next guy … but I’m also really impressed with the strides Microsoft has made in many areas lately including live.com. Yes I’m a Microsoft fan too.

Just started messing with the new version of Live Maps. Click here to check out an example of Microsoft’s building in Creve Coeur, MO. Try adding the 3D view (similar to Google Earth if you are familiar with it).

I went out there because I noticed my friend Paul had a blog post about the new interactive weather map on weather.com (click here to check out an example) and saw that it uses Microsoft Live Maps.

Pretty cool.

Microsoft Releases MOSS Search Performance and Capacity Whitepaper

At work we recently finished implementing MOSS Search for our production Intranet and Extranet applications. It went very well and we did it with very little documentation. Microsoft TAP support (we were a MOSS Beta TAP member) and the resources they provide were great.

At the same time we would have loved to have a bit more documentation and guidance. We’ve been waiting for this one for some time. It’s great to see this finally hit the press.

As more MOSS documents become available I may blog about them here.

Vince to speak at 2007 Enterprise Search Summit

For my first post I’ll note that I’ve been asked by Microsoft to present at this year’s 2007 Enterprise Search Summit (click here and find Breakout E-2 - Using SharePoint Server 2007 for Site and Enterprise Search).

What the heck happened to all of your content?

Well I’m sorry to say I haven’t been able to move it from the old platform yet and WordPress (what I’m using now) doesn’t seem to have a way to easily backset the date when I move old blog entries. I’ll have to move it all and then change the dates in the database directly. Hopefully over the next few weeks I’ll get that accomlished as there were some things I wanted to move. :-(
